Sustainable care tips for jackets from LangerChen

Sustainable fashion doesn't end with the purchase. It begins with proper care. By treating your clothes with care, you ensure they remain beautiful, functional, and wearable for many years. With LangerChen's care tips, you support longevity, quality, and conscious consumption – perfectly in line with the principles of slow and green fashion. This way, your sustainable jacket will remain your favorite piece for a long time.

Very important: The care instructions inside your LangerChen jacket always take precedence over general recommendations. They can vary significantly depending on the material, construction, and details such as tapes, membranes, or coatings. Therefore, please always read the care label first.

Remove small stains even without machine washing

Less is often more. In most cases, simply airing out your LangerChen jacket after wearing it is sufficient, instead of washing it immediately. This protects the fibers and avoids unnecessary water consumption. Small stains can be spot-treated with a damp cloth and a little eco-friendly detergent – no machine washing required. These simple care tips will significantly extend the life of your favorite garment.

If washing is unavoidable, the next step always depends on the care label of your jacket. There you will find instructions on how to do it.

  • whether the jacket can even be turned inside out (this is sometimes not recommended for models with tapes or special coatings),
  • whether a gentle wash cycle at 30°C is recommended or whether a cold wash is advised,
  • whether a special sports or membrane detergent should be used.

The gentle wash cycle: Care tips for delicate materials

All LangerChen jackets should be washed very gently. The symbol for the gentle wash cycle on the care label is a wash tub icon with one or two horizontal bars below the tub.

  • One bar = low-maintenance program
  • Two bars = delicate wash / gentle wash cycle

These bars indicate reduced mechanical stress. The machine moves the drum more gently, spins for a shorter time, and uses more water for rinsing – ideal for delicate materials like Tencel, laminated outer fabrics, softshell, or functional blends. This is precisely where the right care tips come in, ensuring your jacket retains its functionality for years to come.

When using the gentle wash cycle, you should also keep the following in mind:

  • Wash only a few items at a time (a full drum increases friction).
  • Put your jacket – if the label allows it – in a laundry bag,
  • Select low spin speeds (max. 600–800 rpm),
  • Never use fabric softener, as it can damage fibers and membranes.

Close all zippers and undo drawstrings before washing. Use a mild, liquid detergent without enzymes or fabric softener. For jackets with synthetic fibers, a microplastic filter is recommended to trap fine fibers – another sustainable step in LangerChen's care tips.

After washing, it's best to dry your LangerChen jacket away from direct sunlight or heat. If the material allows, a short, low heat in the dryer can reactivate the water-repellent finish. Alternatively, you can gently iron it over a cloth. Always check the care label first.

To ensure water continues to bead up reliably, the waterproofing can be refreshed with a PFC-free spray or a wash-in waterproofing treatment. These sustainable care tips will preserve the function, shape, and breathability of your jacket in the long term.

Storage, repair and mindfulness – awareness of slow fashion

Sustainable care is also evident in storage. Hang your LangerChen jacket on a sturdy, wide hanger to help it retain its shape. Store it in a dry, well-ventilated place, away from light – ideally in a breathable cotton garment bag. This will keep the material supple and protected. A lavender sachet provides additional natural moth protection, completely chemical-free.

One of the most important care tips: Repair minor damage early. Loose buttons, frayed seams, or a stiff zipper can usually be easily fixed. This extends the lifespan of your clothing and preserves its value. This is also part of LangerChen's care tips, because repairing instead of replacing is a fundamental principle of slow fashion.

Because sustainability begins in the wardrobe. With knowledge, mindfulness, and the right care tips from LangerChen, your favorite piece will stay beautiful for many years – and become a true statement for conscious consumption and long-lasting fashion.
