LangerChen was founded as a sustainable fashion label. We have been committed to an environmentally friendly collection from the very beginning. A change in the industry is very important to us.
The careful use of the resources of our planet and a minimum ecological footprint are very important to us. The fashion industry with its entire value chain is one of the 'dirtiest' industries for our planet. The conventional production of fibres to the finished garment involves the use of many chemicals such as artificial fertilisers, pesticides, dyes and textile auxiliaries, all of which inevitably leave residues in the environment. Sustainability is the most important criterion in every decision we make.
The origin and extraction of our eco-raw materials are fundamental to our products. The ecological production is ensured by transaction certificates for the ecological standard.
Our creative research and development team develops our own yarns and fabrics:
- Organic wool
- GOTS certified cotton
- GOTS certified linen
- Lyocell (Tencel®) from sustainable forests
Our German office is near Munich, while our Chinese team is working on our collections near Shanghai.
Synthetics
If we need to use synthetics, we'll go for it:
- Recycled polyester
- Recycled nylon
- Bio based nylon
For hydrophobic finishes, we take care not to use perfluorinated carbon compounds. In addition to vegetable wax, we use products such as Bionic Finish® Eco and Zelan™ R3.
In addition to sustainable materials, we also pay attention to the carbon footprint. The means of transport of our goods are selected according to the lowest CO2 emissions. The parcel shipping in Europe is CO2 neutral ( through compensation).
To avoid unnecessary plastic waste, we do not pack our jackets and coats in individual packages as is customary in the trade. An elaborate stock-keeping in our manufactory makes it possible to reduce the plastic foils to one outer packaging per delivered carton. This allows us to save up to 90% of plastic packaging.
